HSIA Aihua
HSIA Aihua’s creative language centers on the traditional huo-tuo qianqi (dry lacquer) technique, which she integrates with natural materials and time-honored sculptural methods. Her works embody profound spirituality and symbolic meaning. Animals in her practice are often seen as incarnations of spirits or deities of nature. Using hollow lacquer techniques, she creates vessels that contain “spirit” and “authentic self.” These technically refined works become poetic and meditative containers where nature, mythology, and memory converge.
In her Night Zoo series, HSIA extends her medium into painting, depicting animal portraits reminiscent of an illustrated bestiary. These images invite viewers into an inner forest where fantasy and stillness coexist. Whether in sculpture or on canvas, HSIA’s work reflects reverence for nature, the translation of memory, and a sensitive portrayal of the light and mystery of life.
Born in Taipei, HSIA Aihua currently lives and works between Taiwan and Japan. She specializes in sculpture, painting, and installation. After graduating from the Department of Sculpture at the National Taiwan University of Arts, she pursued advanced studies at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, where she earned a master’s degree and completed a postgraduate research fellowship. Her artistic foundation lies in the interweaving of East Asian cultural heritage and a deep spiritual connection to nature.
Over the years, HSIA has held more than thirty solo exhibitions in Taiwan, Japan, and abroad, and participated in numerous international residencies and exchange programs. Her works are included in the collections of the Haaz Rezso Museum of Fine Arts in Romania and the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum in Japan. She is a multiple-time recipient of grants from Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture and the National Culture and Arts Foundation, and is one of the few contemporary artists who persistently engages with Eastern craftsmanship within a contemporary context.

KAMIDE Yuki
KAMIDE Yuki's artistic practice centers on the relationship between memory and the present. She sees memory as fragments that truly existed in the past, which, when recalled, become a force that supports the present. Kamiide creates paintings based on photographs with a sense of multiple exposure. Through layered imagery, spatial clarity is deliberately obscured, while symbolic elements such as human figures, birds, and flowers appear and recede at random. This approach challenges linear perception of time, inviting both artist and viewer to share a timeless "now"—a moment suspended for mutual experience and interpretation.
⠀
KAMIDE is a Japanese artist based in Tokyo. She earned her degree in oil painting from the Graduate School of Art and Design at Musashino Art University, and later received a certificate from the Goldsmiths College, University of London, where she focused her studies on contemporary painting and the expression of memory. She has held solo exhibitions in Tokyo and Osaka, and her recent group exhibitions include La Légende dorée de Saint François at AGORA in Monaco, ONE ART Taipei, 25 Millimeters of Resonance, The Crosscurrent International Exchange Exhibition, and Traveling Canvas. Her work has been exhibited in cities such as Taipei, Tokyo, Naples, and Los Angeles, reflecting her ongoing engagement in international artistic dialogue.
